Wedding Dance Lessons

Your Wedding Dance

Imagine stepping onto the dance floor on your wedding day — confident, relaxed, and completely in the moment — while your family and friends watch with big smiles.

At DanceWell Ballroom PDX, we help couples just like you create a beautiful, natural first dance (or other special wedding dances) that you’ll actually enjoy performing.

Learning your wedding dance is a special gift that you and your spouse-to-be can give to each other. Your very first special memory as husband and wife.

We offer flexible options:

  • Private lessons for just the two of you
  • Small group lessons (with bridesmaids, groomsmen, or family)
  • Lessons at your reception venue (if needed)

Wedding Dance Tips

Here are a few helpful tips to make your wedding dance preparation smooth and enjoyable:

  • Start early if possible. Wedding schedules get very busy! We recommend beginning lessons 4 to 6 months before your big day. This gives you plenty of time to practice and feel confident — especially if you’re new to dancing.
  • Choose a song that’s meaningful and danceable. Pick a song that feels special to both of you, but keep in mind that strong, clear beats are usually easier for partner dancing. Feel free to bring a few different song options to your first lesson — we’ll help you find the one that dances the best.
  • Popular wedding dance styles today include the Waltz, Mambo, Salsa, Swing, Tango, Nightclub Two Step, and even the Hustle. We can help you decide which style fits your song and personality best.
  • Bring your music to every lesson. Please bring a copy of your song on your phone, iPad, or USB so we can choreograph the dance specifically to your music.
  • Coordinate with your vendors. Let your DJ know exactly when to start and stop your song, and make sure your photographer and videographer know when your special dance will happen so they can capture those beautiful “Kodak moments.”
