Medalist Program     Sports Dance

We have several private lesson programs that can get you quickly meeting your dancing goals and schedule. You can take private lessons by yourself or with a partner; or you can share as a small group open to the public --  or with a small group of friends.

If you have taken personal training, private golf lessons, private cooking lessons, private tutoring, etc. you'll know the true value and benefit of one-on-one instruction. Sooner is better as in the long run it costs more to fix habits later -- not just financially but in time as well. (I think Yoda said this too...)

There is no substitute for working one-on-one with an instructor to accelerate your learning experience. It's the quickest way to learn and be confident about your dancing. Whether you want to work on technique, leading or following, routines, timing, wedding preparations, or just want to have fun.  We encourage students to take a combination of both group and private.

PRIVATE LESSONS
Singles or Couples, same price

Cancellation Policy:  DanceWell has a 24 hour cancellation policy, or 1/2 the lesson is charged

Private Lessons
$75 for one hour with one of our experienced PROFESSIONALS
$40 for one half hour

Practice Partner Program
$45/hr with a TEACHER-IN-TRAINING who is currently enrolled in our Teacher Training Course and who has been in the program a minimum of 4 months .   You will be able to practice steps learned in the DanceWell group classes with one of our Teacher Trainees in our Professional Training Program.

This is a service to people who cannot afford regular lesson rates. This program allows our Teacher Trainees to practice their skills by actually working with students under the supervision of the master teacher. This concept is similar to “Supercuts” Salons – the sessions may vary depending on the skill set of the teacher. The great part is you get bargain basement prices and our trainees get the opportunity to practice a little teaching. Every fifth lesson you will meet with the Director, Linda Springstead, at our normal rate of $75/hr -- Half the hour will be you and your "practice partner's" regular lesson/practice time being monitored by Linda, and half will be spent with coaching by Linda.

Semi-Private Workshops
$25/hr per person or per couple.  These once-per-month private sessions are 1.5 hours long and are scheduled on our calendar. Linda's time is shared by several singles or couples -- a very affordable way to get a just a little help with something not working well.  Any dance and any steps you wish.  An affordable bit of one-to-one time with instructor(s) for better movement, form, frame & style.  Open to the public, limited space.  Must pre-register  by Thursday prior to workshop.

Lessons and classes are  on a 55-minute hour

SHOULD I TAKE GROUP  OR PRIVATE INSTRUCTION  Ideally a combination of private and group instruction is the best choice. Receive quantity of patterns in group classes; add quality of movement to your dancing in private lessons

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE A LESSON?     Because you are new to dancing, the frequency of your first lessons is key to your success. When you first begin, we recommend a minimum of 2 lessons per week, private and/or group and/or practice. This will help you retain your information easily and make better progress.  KEEP COMING BACK!  THE PROGRAM WORKS!

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL A LESSON?     The studio realizes there may be occasions when your scheduled appointment may not be convenient. We can change your appointment to a more appropriate time, however we do ask that you provide us with a 24 hours notice when rescheduling. This allows your instructor to accommodate another student in your original time slot. The studio reserves the right to charge those students who cancel their lessons on less than 24 hour notice. MISSED GROUP CLASSES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.

DO I WEAR ANYTHING SPECIAL FOR MY LESSONS or CLASSES?     It is recommended that you wear clothing that will give you freedom of movement. Many women find loose slacks or a full skirt to be most comfortable. Men find sport or polo shirts and loose slacks the most comfortable. Jeans and sweat clothes are not recommended.  Shoes with a thin, flexible sole are best for men. Women should wear a heel, since that is the normal shoe of choice when dressing up. Walking shoes with thick soles or rubber soles, sneakers or athletic shoes are not recommended for dancing. Although comfortable, they are not flexible enough for dancing, and may even encourage injury. Special footwear designed for dancing in a variety of styles is available to you through dance stores or the internet.

HOW DO I PRACTICE MY DANCING?     DanceWell has BEGINNER DANCES every Thursday so students can practice their dancing, and monthly SATURDAY SOCIALS for all dance levels.   The parties give you the chance to dance in a "nightclub" atmosphere that will help you recognize one dance from another, dance with multiple partners, and learn to maneuver on a crowded dance floor. You needn't wait until you think you are good enough to attend a party. Going to these sessions right away will help you build your confidence and become better, faster.

Additional practice time may be purchased at the cooperative studio where we hold classes.
