Fifteen
years ago, Craig began social dancing, and he was immediately
attracted to Country Western dancing. He began learning the UCWDC
(United Country Western Dance Council) Competetion Dances: Triple
Two Step, Polka, Nightclub Two Step, Cha Cha, Waltz, Country Two Step,
East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing. He quickly added
Hustle.
In
1997, Craig started competing on the United Country Dance Council
circuit, eventually winning the Diamond Classic 3 World Title in 2001.
Craig also has competed in numerous World Swing Dance Council
conventions, placing in West Coast Swing, Hustle, and Nightclub Two
Step J&J and Strictly Swing contests.
In
2005, Craig started teaching competitive Country Dance, and has enjoyed
coaching and dancing Pro Am with a number of students in the Portland
area as well as several in Texas and California.
During this time, Craig continued to develop his dance by studying both
the rhythm and smooth syllabus courses offered by the UCWDC. Craig’s
goal is to “help my students become more confident and successful
dancers.”
