Singles and Couples Welcome...pay monthly or drop in as you like.   

Students rotate with everyone in the classes, gaining experience dancing with various partners and assistants in the class. (this helps you learn to be a better leader or follower for your favorite dance partner).

Best to prepay to hold your spot since the class limit is 40.  If the class is full you can be placed on our waiting list.

BEGINNING SOCIAL DANCE CLASSES:  PROGRESSIVE  (Level 1)       Our Beginning Progressive courses are taught in two separate segments:  Our Monthly calendar lists each week of the course (for example: 1/4) You may take just the first month if you choose, or if you know some of the dance  Class Prerequisites you may skip Month 1 and go right to BEYOND BEGINNING                              

Beginning Month 1 usually 4 weeks each.

 In BEGINNING & BEYOND BEGINNING SOCIAL CLASSES you will learn:

  • rhythm

  • 3-15 step patterns for each dance every month so you can quickly get on the dance floor!

  • partnering skills for teamwork

  • movement skills

  • etiquette for social dances

  • basic movement skills for all dancing

  • great practice for fundamentals

  • different dance holds for Latin, Swing, Ballroom Smooth and Nightclub dances

  • REMEMBER TO PRACTICE WHAT YOU LEARN AT OUR WEEKLY DANCES TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT LEVEL

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED CLASSES   (Levels 4 & 5)

These classes are for those who have mastered PREVIOUS CLASSES in a certain dance and would like more advanced steps and good technique for movement skills.  Stay in these classes indefinitely as class material changes each session.  Builds on skills learned in earlier levels adding more detailed lead/follow instruction and style. 

Learn

  • patterns 1-15 in the "Silver" level of dance

  • develop your dancing to higher level

  • "Silver" or "Continuity" dancing like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers

  • higher level technique & style

  • Latin and Swing double turns

  • syncopations

  • advanced pattern variations

ACCELERATED LEAD/FOLLOW CLASS (also INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAM)

The "college course" of dancing.  Learn to lead and follow and become an excellent dancer and really understand each dance.  Learn what the best Pros know about all the steps, choreography, technique, and dance vocabulary as well.  This class has a time commitment outside of classtime.  More information see  Professional Training

BRONZE MEDALS or COMPETITION PROGRAMS

Become an excellent dancer and really understand each dance.   

FAMILY CLASSTIME  

AS A FAMILY  learn the basic partnering dances.   PLUS --learn to be really comfortable at  social occasions.  We request that parents join with their children to learn a social dance but we are flexible.   Young adults above 4ft. tall are welcome to join any of our class for just $5/class when prepaid for a series.  

DANCEWELL PERFORMANCE TEAM

The team performs different routines at our studio parties and in the general Portland area for Senior Centers, fairs, etc...  NOT a formation team, mostly socially danceable material that  can be performed by one couple or many.

Qualifications for PERFORMANCE GROUP
Time commitment varies with routine choreography, practice and performance dates. Some knowledge of dance vocabulary necessary and a basic knowledge of the dances being performed. Pre-screening and a partner is required. Dance Routines are taught, with performances at various venues as the goal.

PRIVATE LESSONS 
Personal attention will ease and speed the learning process by 30% and can be scheduled at convenient times.
