Introducing Linda Springstead Your Dance Instructor - Linda Springstead

DanceWell's Owner/Director Linda Springstead has played a key role in the development of Ballroom dance as a sport, art form and healthful activity here in the Portland area for the past 17 years.

Starting her business as a single mother, Linda's strong-will and dedication to her students has brought her over a decade of success in a highly competitive field.

With all the skills and abilities necessary for becoming a top national competitor, Linda has rather focused all her energies into the art of instruction, spending tens of thousands of dollars simply so “you” may have the best quality instruction to become a quality dancer.  Linda’s dancing classes include concepts which you could compare to high school or college classes, taught in an easy-to-understand way that a junior high or grade-schooler could still grasp.

Ballroom dancing’s “Grande Damme” of Portland, Linda has encouraged and coached her students in the wonderful qualities of movement social dancing can develop between two people. Linda's DanceWell students enjoy all aspects of dance including social, studio recitals, offsite performances and competitive activities. Her dancers develop "the dance look" and can be noted enjoying their dancing around town.

In 1997 Linda was the Crystal Ballroom’s Tuesday night Ballroom instructor. "Crystal Tuesdays", (and many Sundays), Linda instructed hundreds of people in everything from West Coast Swing to Quickstep, from Tango to Cha Cha, Waltz to Salsa to Foxtrot to Swing. Linda taught at the Crystal Ballroom until it changed venues to Lindy Hop only.  Linda has also appeared several times local radio and television shows and her dancing pictures were on THE Kodak Billboard in Times Square New York for several months in 2000.

Linda has had much personal instruction from coaches like Jim and Jenel Maranto, Stephen and Beth Cullip, Ludmila Popov, Ron Montez, Victor Verrasset, Buddy Schwimmer, Tony Meredith and Melanie Lapatin, Donald Johnson, James and Jaana Kunitz; has worked with Rick Pride, Peter Mant, Ava Kaye, and Canadian coaches like Jean-Marc Genereaux and France Mousseau, and Michele Guimond.  Most recently Linda has been working with examiner Diane Jarmolow in the newest and best Nationally accredited Syllabus in the United States.  The DVIDA syllabus of learning includes both American and International styles of dance.

Being eclectic in nature, Linda has continued classes and instruction in all the dances she loves -- and has helped people learn "variety is definitely the spice of life!" Being at a dance where you can do something of everything is a real joy. Sitting out dances because of lack of training is unnecessary when Linda's classes and lessons currently are available 6 days a week in Tigard. Ask for Linda.

Memberships: National Dance Council of America, Professional Dancers Federation and IDEA Health & Fitness Organization, DVIDA.  Linda's full commitment is to the social, physical, and emotional health benefits of dance and to dancing well.
